On August 19, Fairhaven’s Youth Group assembled 60 UMCOR hygiene relief kits. These kits contain useful items such as a comb, washcloth, soap, toothbrush, and bandages, and are packed ready to be delivered to areas hit by disasters.

During the month of August, Fairhaven’s congregation donated Back to School Supplies to the 250 formerly homeless children in permanent housing programs. On August 9, individuals from Fairhaven helped sort hundreds of donated supplies to prepare them for packing into backpacks for each child for the start of the school year.

On June 30 2018, as part of an Outreach program, the United Methodist Men’s group worked with the combined Fairhaven choirs to provide a BBQ and entertainment to the residents at Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless Gude Drive facility.

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief, non-profit organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable. On March 3, members and friends of Fairhaven United Methodist church, along with other community members, packaged 10,000 nutritious meals to be distributed to people in need worldwide.

World Communion Sunday (the first Sunday of October) provides scholarships for US racial- and ethnic-minority students and international students, on both undergraduate and graduate levels. During this year’s World Communion Sunday, members of Fairhaven’s congregation dressed in clothing from around the world to raise global awareness.

Several times a year, Fairhaven gathers items for and assembles relief kits for UMCOR (the United Methodist Committee on Relief). These kits are then distributed nationally or internationally, when and where needed. During the summer months, Fairhaven collects and donates school supplies to help local children prepare for the academic year. Donations of backpacks, pencils, paper, binders, folders, lunchboxes, gluesticks, markers, and much more went to help children at Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless facilities and children at Fields Road Elementary School.

Annual Book Drive

During May of each year, as part of FUMC’s outreach activities, we hold a book drive. New or lightly used children’s books are collected and donated to Fields’ Road Elementary School.
