VARIETY is a good word to describe the service music at Fairhaven. We love music and present virtually every type and style throughout the church year – contemporary Christian, traditional, Gospel, spirituals, and choral classics. In addition to the Sanctuary Choir (Fairhaven’s primary church choir), we have a 14-member Handbell Choir. Volunteer directors work with our Gospel Choir and Children’s Choir. Our church is blessed with many fine instrumentalists who participate regularly in our services and special programs. In addition, we have recently purchased a new Allen digital organ that can produce a huge variety of beautiful sounds. If you don’t like the type of music you hear one Sunday at Fairhaven, come back the next week. You’ll probably hear something entirely different! If you would like to participate in any of Fairhaven’s musical programs, contact us.
Freddie Payton, Director; Esther Lyons, Accompanist
Fairhaven’s Gospel Choir sings once or twice a month at the worship service and, as its name implies, is focused on traditional and contemporary gospel music. Members of the gospel choir also sing in a group that is well-known locally, the “Royal Harmonizers.” The Gospel Choir most recently formed a men’s group called “Synergy in Spirit.” The choir often participates in Gospel programs at area churches and hosts an anniversary concert at Fairhaven the first Sunday in October. In addition, over the past eleven years, the choir has traveled annually to Hillcrest UM Church in Fredericksburg, VA to perform in full concert. From time to time the Gospel Choir and the Sanctuary Choir combine to sing special music.
Christina Mollard, Director
This choir plays approximately once every six weeks and participates in all Fairhaven Musical Theater productions. Fairhaven has a three-octave set of Schulmerich Handbells and a two-octave set of choir chimes.
